“Tares Among the Wheat” will likely challenge what most scholars believe about Bible history, and the origins of the current wave of new translations that have flooded churches around the world.
In the 19th century, a revolution in biblical scholarship was prompted by the publication of a never-before-seen manuscript called Codex Sinaiticus. The work was allegedly “discovered” by a German scholar named Constantine von Tischendorf, who declared this to be the oldest Bible ever found. Tischendorf said he found the work in a rubbish basket at a Greek Orthodox monastery in Egypt. While many in the academic world did not fully believe his story, they were willing to accept his claims about the antiquity of the codex. But shortly after his discovery was published, a renowned Greek paleographer named Constantine Simonides came forward and declared that the manuscript was no ancient text at all, but had been created by him in 1840. The controversy surrounding these events is, perhaps, the most incredible untold chapter in Bible history. It involves Jesuits, the Pope, a high-minded German, a committee of Anglo Romanists, and a mysterious Greek patriot. It is a story that (while quite true and well documented) a vast majority of modern academics know nothing about. Yet the subject matter dramatically impacts the world of biblical scholarship, even to this present hour. Most of what today’s scholars believe about MS. evidence is based on the events of this era, and the footnotes in your Bible are the proof of it.

The King James, and the New King James, version was translated with the Textus Receptus. The modern translations have been translated with Codex Sinaiticus, such as the NIV, NLT, NASB, RSV, ESV, and others. However, Codex Sinaiticus, which was “discovered in 1844“, has been reported to contain thousands of variants in the text, and even is missing certain passages, such as Mark 16:9-20, John 7:53 through John 8:11, and 1John 5:7. These significant differences in Codex Sinaiticus has caused many, who have accepted it as the oldest text, to no longer believe in the inerrancy of Scripture, which then causes them to contradict the following passages: Psalm 12:6-7, John 17:17, Romans 3:4, 2Samuel 22:31, Isaiah 40:8. At about the same time, Rome declared the “pope to be infallible“; thus putting the pope above Scripture. To learn more about the details concerning contextual criticism of the Textus Receptus (the text which is based upon the churches traditional manuscripts that have been accepted throughout the church age), and Codex Sinaiticus (the manuscript which was discovered in the 19th century, and was also claimed to be the oldest and most reliable biblical text), watch the video below entitled “Is the Textus Receptus Older than Westcott & Hort Text?”
The major claims, made by Westcott and Hort, is that Codex Sinaiticus is older, and more reliable, because the text is missing passages of Scripture that cannot be found in manuscripts written before the 4th century. However, this is not true. For examples of how various disputed passages of Scripture can, in fact, be found quoted in the writings of Church elders before the 4th century, see the list of disputed passages below.
160 to 240 AD – Tertullian, in “Treatise of the Soul”, he uses Mark 16:9 as a basis for teaching on demon possession, on page 372, 1st paragraph of Google Books.
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Proverbs 30
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
John 17
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Romans 3
4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar
2Samuel 22
31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
Isaiah 40
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Scripture must be contended for, because if God’s word is not completely true, correct, and preserved throughout the church age, then we cannot contend for the faith against heresy. Also, neglecting to obey God’s command to contend for the faith, will cause heresy to eat away at the church like a cancer.
Jude 1
3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — A Pakistani court ordered the police to withdraw blasphemy charges against a Christian teenager on Tuesday, lawyers said, bringing an end to a contentious case that had gripped the country and sown fear in its Christian minority population.
The girl, Rimsha Masih, who comes from an impoverished family of sweepers, was arrested in August after Muslim accusers said she had been holding a burned copy of the Noorani Qaida, a religious textbook used to teach the Koran to children.
Relatives and human rights workers have said that the girl, 14, has Down syndrome and should therefore be exempt from the blasphemy laws.
On Tuesday, Justice Iqbal Hameed ur Rahman, who heads the Islamabad High Court, stated in his judgment that there was no evidence for the charges against Ms. Masih. In his 15-page judgment, he urged extreme caution in matters related to blasphemy and criticized the practice of fake blasphemy accusations against non-Muslims.
“The case against Rimsha Masih is finished,” said Tahir Naveed Chaudhry, one of her lawyers. “Justice has been served.”
A school district in Maine is apologizing after middle school students learned about homosexual foreplay during what was supposed to be a “Diversity Day” presentation.
“I don’t want my child taught heterosexual foreplay, let alone homosexual foreplay,” outraged parent Kristy Howard told Fox News.
“They went beyond the scope of our intentions and discussed topics that we do not deem appropriate for our middle school,” Robert Riley wrote in a letter obtained by The American Journal. “We do not intend to expose them to ideas that are not within the scope of our teaching about responsible citizenship as it is embedded in our code of conduct.”
The incident occurred two weeks before the state voted to approve gay marriage – and involved a classroom of 25 eighth graders.
Howard’s 13-year-old son was one of those who came home shocked by the presentation’s graphic nature.
“They were talking about sex and if you didn’t have a condom – saran wrap could be used in place of a dental dam,” Howard told Fox News. “It was all new to me.”
Howard said the PRYSM presenters also cursed and questioned whether the children had been taught about safe homosexual sex.
Chris speaks about returning from his 9 days of filming in the U.K. and weighs in on the presidential election. Why did Obama win? And what does this mean for the Church in America? Also discussed is an article by Brannon Howse on the role of the New Religious Right in the election results. Is God judging America because the Church has compromised the Gospel on behalf of political conservatism?
Chris continues his discussion of the recent presidential election, sifting through the “wreckage” of what happened with the hope the Church had that Obama would be ousted from office. Is it possible that our situation in America parallels that of the prophet Daniel and ancient Israel? Daniel’s prayer to God on behalf of his nation provides powerful lessons and insights that we can consider as believers today.
A month after the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association removed an article describing Mormonism as a “cult” from its website, ministry head Franklin Graham clarified on Wednesday that he was unaware of the article’s existence.
The evangelist told CNN that he did not write the article and that he was “shocked” to find the article on the BGEA website.
“We have 10,000 pages and I don’t write the 10,000 pages. Other people have written it. There was a discussion as to what a cult was and they (the article) had a definition of a cult and then they gave some examples and when I found out there were examples they took them off. But I was shocked that we even had that on there,” Graham said, as he described the “cult” reference as name-calling.
“If I want to win a person to Christ, how can I call that person a name? That’s what shocked me, that we were calling people names.”
The article was categorized under BGEA’s “Looking for Answers” section where the question “What is a cult?” was posed. It defined a cult as “any group which teaches doctrines or beliefs that deviate from the biblical message of the Christian faith. It is very important that we recognize cults and avoid any involvement with them. Cults often teach some Christian truth mixed with error, which may be difficult to detect.”
Providing examples of “cults,” it listed Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spiritists, and Scientologists.
Even with the election now over, Franklin Graham stated that the “cult” article will never be posted again.
The new evangelical leaders are adamant about not being offensive to anyone, just as Franklin Graham is. They no longer want to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and God’s coming judgment (John 16:8, Acts 17:30-31). They are not fit to preach the gospel, yet their poor example has become the norm. This compromise has effeminized the gospel, and has produced a false Christ in the minds of people around the world. The Holy Spirit did not lead these new evangelicals to make these serious errors in judgment. On the contrary, These leaders are not serving God, but themselves, and they are lovers, not of God, but of this world. The causes which they contend for are the social causes of this world, and not the gospel of Christ, which has condemned this world, because of its sin.
God’s word still speaks the truth.
Galatians 1
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
James 2
1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
1Timothy 6
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Timothy 4
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
Romans 16
17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.
The following article, by Apprising Ministries, is about Kay Aurthur of “Precepts Ministries International”. It describes how the well known Bible teacher has been repeatedly compromising the gospel by partnering with false teachers, such as mystics, Word of Faith heretics, and others, and has refused to stop after being approached by a fellow ministry partner. To read the article, click on the link entitled “ABOUT KAY ARTHUR OF PRECEPT MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL“.
The problem with the Christian, mainstream, media is that most of the well known Christian leaders have been engaging in practices that true Christians are not able to follow, because they are sinful, such as the ecumenical practices of Kay Arthur, and most other Christian leaders. This bad example teaches believers to practice blatant disobedience as though their example were not, at all, inappropriate. Nevertheless, no matter how popular the mainstream media makes these poor Christian leaders, their sinful example has already been condemned by God.
2John 1
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
2Corinthians 6
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
John 15
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
1John 5
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1Corinthians 16
22 If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come!
Matthew 7
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
The International House of Prayer (IHOP) is no stranger to the media, as seen in this CBN interview entitled “IHOP Revival: Kansas City“. It is also no stranger to controversy. Nevertheless, the recent events has depicted the IHOP cult in a much darker light, as seen in the article below.
Kansas City Star –
A clearer picture began to emerge Thursday about Tyler Deaton’s role at the International House of Prayer.
Deaton’s wife, Bethany Ann Deaton, was found dead in a parked van Oct. 30 at Longview Lake. Authorities initially believed she killed herself, but a week ago a man told police that he had killed her at the order of Tyler Deaton, who has been described as the charismatic leader of a religious sect.
The man who confessed to the killing, Micah Moore, a member of Deaton’s group, has been charged with first-degree murder. Deaton has not been charged. Prosecutors have acknowledged that he is under investigation.
Deaton’s group came from Texas to be part of the International House of Prayer, based in south Kansas City.
On Monday, Allen Hood, the president of the International House of Prayer, said in a statement that Deaton led his group independently and operated under a “veil of secrecy,” though members attended a school operated by IHOP. The statement also made reference to the group’s “disturbing religious practices.”
But a handout and website posting shows that as of Nov. 4 — five days after Bethany Deaton’s death — Tyler Deaton was a “division coordinator” on the administrative team of International House of Prayer friendship groups. The position is unpaid, according to another person who holds the same position and attended three recent meetings with Deaton.
IHOP is part of a religious movement called “The New Apostolic Reformation”. It is an experienced based religion that is more “new age” than Christian, because its doctrine and practices built upon Roman Catholic doctrine, and mysticism.
