Two Extremes – And No Room In Between

The following video is a biblical examination of the problems with identifying with a particular political party. The purpose of this video is not to teach a prohibition of, or disparage the act of, voting, but to show, from Scripture, the problems with identifying with the two polarizing major political parties, in order to highlight Scripture’s command to be holy as Christ, the Lord, is holy.

Los Angeles Is Squandering $1.2 Billion While Homeless Face a ‘Spiral of Death’

Five years after Los Angeles voters approved a $1.2 billion bond measure and a countywide sales tax hike to raise another estimated $355 million annually to solve its homelessness problem, there are more people living and dying on the streets than ever before. Many of these men and women are both frequent targets and perpetrators of violence.

Mayor Eric Garcetti (D), who did not respond to our interview request, has partially blamed this failure on the pandemic, which slowed new housing construction and limited shelter capacity. It’s true that COVID caused a surge in homelessness, but the city’s plan was already failing.

President Biden addressed many Americans’ concerns during his CNN’s town hall event in Cincinnati. Among the array of topics attendees questioned the president about, one of the most sought-after answers was his outlook on the filibuster and the protection of voting rights. A Black couple asked President Biden what he plans to do to reassure Black people the vaccine is safe. That conversation led to a discussion about U.S. citizens’ general mistrust in the system and what the Biden administration can do to fix it. When asked about increasing the passage of police reform legislation, President Biden spoke on the state of policing in the nation. He also addressed inflation of prices and what he will do to protect the poor and middle class from its effects.

Listen up and listen well Pres. Joe Biden, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi … If African Americans don’t have the ability to vote because our voting rights have been trampled and decimated by Republicans, your agenda is sunk and as Dr. Wes Bellamy, Chair of Advocacy, 100 Black Men of America, Inc said on #RolandMartinUnfiltered, “You deserved to get sacked.”

Unquenchable Peace

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27)”. However, if we love this world, and our citenship is of this world, and our affiliation is to a political party, instead of Christ and his church, then we are of the world, and the love of the Father is not in us. “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7)”. If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory (Colossians 3:1-4). Therefore, we must present our “bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2).” So, “do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever (1 John 1:15-17).”

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:8-9

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

Ephesians 5:18-20

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Psalm 1:1-3
