There has been much confusion about what a Christian nation is. This confusion comes from the belief that it is both possible, and permissible to merge church doctrine with civil law. There is a distinct difference between founding a country upon biblical principals and making a country Christian.
When a the laws of a nation are built upon biblical principals, such as the “Ten Commandments”, it is fitting and just, because there is only one true lawgiver and judge; God (James 4:12). To affirm his laws by adopting them honors God and blesses a nation. But this does not make a nation a “Christian nation”. Christianity is founded upon faith in Jesus Christ, that he is the Son of God, and obedience to his teachings. Therefore, to make a nation a Christian nation would be to bring a nation to faith in Jesus Christ “by law”. However, conversion through civil law violates Christ’ own teachings, because he taught that not everyone could come to faith in him, but only those whom his Father draws to Jesus (John 6:44). That makes it impossible to convert an entire nation. When church doctrine becomes civil law, it only produces a nation of hypocrites; people who have the right “lawful confession”, but cannot live according to it from the heart. These are false converts. According to Scripture, they cannot obey God’s law nor do they know Jesus Christ, even though they have a good confession, and even studied Christ’ teachings.
Luke 13
23 Then one said to Him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?” And He said to them,
24 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
25 When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’
26 then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’
27 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’
28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.
Romans 8
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Based upon the Romans 8:7-8 passage, what would be the result of disregarding Christ’ teachings by making converts through civil law, rather than through preaching?
Lets take Israel as an example, and see what God has to say about the result of their theocracy by examining Isaiah chapter 1.
2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the LORD has spoken: ” I have nourished and
brought up children, And they have rebelled against Me;
3 The ox knows its owner And the donkey its master’s crib; But Israel does not know, My people do not consider.”
This is what a “Christianized” nation can expect. That is, a nation full of rebellious people, who do not know God.
4 Alas, sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the LORD, They have provoked to anger The Holy One of Israel, They have turned away backward.
It will produce a people dominated by wickedness, who provoke God’s wrath, instead of his blessing.
5 Why should you be stricken again? You will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick, And the whole heart faints.
6 From the sole of the foot even to the head, There is no soundness in it, But wounds and bruises
and putrefying sores; They have not been closed or bound up, Or soothed with ointment.
That nation will be stricken by God’s wrath, which will not result in them fearing God for is judgment. But instead, will result in a persistence in rebelled without any regard for God’s severe punishments. In other words, the Christian nation’s commitment to rebellion is to the death. That is both hypocrisy and blasphemy. It would be more honoring to God if the nation never claimed to be Christian.
REALLY??? Just how serious is this kind of national sin?
7 Your country is desolate, Your cities are burned with fire; Strangers devour your land in your presence; And it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 So the daughter of Zion is left as a booth in a vineyard, As a hut in a garden of cucumbers, As a besieged city.
9 Unless the LORD of hosts Had left to us a very small remnant, We would have become like Sodom, We would have been made like Gomorrah.
This kind of sin makes a country desolate. It brings invasion, destruction and oppression from foreign nations. This kind of sin brings complete destruction to a nation. Israel’s survival of God’s punishment is only because of God’s mercy. Israel should have been wiped out for the sin of breaking their covenant with God.
11 ” To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?” Says the LORD. ” I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams And the fat of fed cattle. I do not delight in the blood of bulls, Or of lambs or goats.
12 ” When you come to appear before Me, Who has required this from your hand, To trample My
courts?
13 Bring no more futile sacrifices; Incense is an abomination to Me. The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies — I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting.
14 Your New Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them.
15 When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.
God will not overlook the wickedness of a nation just because they have sound doctrine and Christian practices, such as baptism and the “Lord’s Supper’. According this this passage, God will only have hatred in his heart for their hypocrisy. To practice Christian ordinances while committing lawlessness as a nation is national hypocrisy. And hypocrisy is the sin that Jesus spoke against the most. – Matthew chp. 6 & 23
God called Israel to repentance. But did they repent?
16 ” Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil,
17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.
18 ” Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, ” Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;
20 But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
No. And according to the Romans 8:7-8, they could not repent. And Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.” Therefore, every nation is a slave to sin, because everyone is born in sin. As the Scripture says, “…through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12). Therefore, everyone is not merely born into sin through Adam, but everyone must die. “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Yes, Even national death.
Salvation comes, not by civil law, but through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, by way of the preaching of his good news of salvation through his church. Nationalism of any kind is doomed to fail because it is of this world, which is cursed, and the people of this world are born under the curse of sin and death. Even our work is cursed.
Genesis 3
16 To the woman He said: ” I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.”
17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: ” Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.
18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field.
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”
So if everything and everyone is cursed, what do we hope in???
Jesus Christ!
Romans 5
18 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in
justification of life.
19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,
21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
1John 2
2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
Those who put their trust in Christ are granted forgiveness of their sins, in this life, and the hope of eternal life in Christ’ coming kingdom. When Jesus Christ returns, he will restore this world. In the meantime, he calls his church to endure life in this sinful world as though traveling through the wilderness with the hope of entering the land of promise.
Matthew 16
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a
man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
Matthew 19
“Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.
30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
Based upon Jesus’ teachings there is no expectation for a Christian nation outside of Christ’ return. Therefore, anyone who is teaching the moralization of a country apart from the gospel is teaching error and and a false hope. All nations are destined to become worse due to their rejection of Jesus Christ and his gospel. The only community that will be purified through a good conscience toward God is Christ’ church.
America was not founded by Christian forefathers, but Freemasons. This is because most of our founding fathers were Freemasons who pretended to be Christians for the sake of gaining the support for the revolution of the colonies from Britain. Although it feels good to affirm the belief that this country was founded upon biblical principals, nevertheless, it simply isn’t true. This country was founded upon the principals of the ancient mystery religions of the occult, which were adopted by Freemasonry.
Freemasonry isn’t just a thing of the past, but the present as well. The photo below is a link to a documentary that explains the hidden faith of our founding fathers. It is one in a series of documentaries, produced by “Adullam Films”, about the history of our country that isn’t being taught in our schools.
