The Least Credible Historian & His Book of Lies

HHN – “Readers of the History News Network have voted David Barton’s The Jefferson Lies: Exposing the Myths You’ve Always Believe About Thomas Jefferson the least credible history book in print in a week-long HNN poll. The book edged out Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States by nine votes at the end of polling — 650 votes versus 641. Commenters criticized the book for its gross factual errors and political agenda — in an email to HNN, Warren”

Mail Online – “An evangelist who kicks followers in the face, claiming his violence will cure them of cancer, is to tour Britain this month – but his proposed visit has provoked outrage and demands that he be banned from entering the country.
Tattooed preacher Todd Bentley,  who as a 15-year-old was convicted of a sex attack on a boy aged seven, claims God uses him as an instrument to heal the sick, and is urging the frail to attend his shows.”

The “David Barton Lies”

“David Barton, president of the WallBuilders organization and a frequent guest on Glenn Beck’s broadcasts, is one of America’s most popular Christian history writers. Liberal critics have long accused Barton of misinterpretations and errors, and readers of the History News Network recently voted a new Barton book, The Jefferson Lies, as the “Least Credible History Book in Print.” But now some conservative Christian scholars are publicly questioning Barton’s work, too.”

Beware of Soft Separatism – by David Cloud

“Soft separatists don’t distance themselves properly from those who are headed in a wrong direction in order to cut off the leaven of compromise from their personal lives and families and churches. Compromise is a contagious spiritual disease, and separation is the only thing that will protect us from its pollution.”

Catholicism, Mysticism and Evangelicals

Paul Flynn discusses some of the history of Roman Catholicism, the increasing influence of mystics on modern evangelicals, and how mysticism links evangelicals to Catholicism.

Catholicism, Mysticism and Evangelicals

The Children Return to the Mother

The following article entitled “Catholic Church only true church, Vatican says” is a public affirmation of Roman Catholicism’s position on the Reformation. The following lecture entitled “HOW TO DESTROY THE GOSPEL: EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN ROMANCE WITH APOSTATE ROMAN CATHOLICISM (PART 3)” describes the efforts of Protestant leaders to compromise it’s loyalty to Jesus Christ, and his gospel, for the sake of receiving Rome’s partnership in their “social gospel” driven efforts.

The Bible gives this command to the church in regards to partnering with Roman Catholicism:

2John 1
8    Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
9    Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10    If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11    For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

The Bible gives this command to the church in regards to the prominent Protestant leaders, who are partnering with Rome:

Romans 16
17    Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18    For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Deeper Revelation

It’s sad that the devil has successfully duped the church into believing that understanding the word as it was written is irrelevant. There are many who have put reading and understanding the word on the back burner in favor of a “revelation” as if they have had some insight into the word that those that seek the word cannot have. This is a classic trick of the word of faith movement who violate the word often, to make you believe that “personal revelation” trumps true word revelation. Understanding the word is a combination of study and prayer. You cannot raise one above the other. The church at large is imploding because of this philosophy that studying the word in the original language and referring to commentaries is somehow a fruitless endeavor. Don’t believe the hype! To stray from the use of scholars as well as the use other reference books to unlock the text of scripture in favor of some ethereal “knowledge” is called “Gnosticism,” a heretical practice that the early church condemned. Combine your prayer life with diligent and thorough study and you will find God’s truth. Remember…it is the word that frees us not our perceived “oneness” with the Spirit of God. Knowing the word is walking in his word, and walking in the Spirit requires understanding the word. We must fight the urge not to rightfully study the word and become diligent as not to fall for the wisdom of crafty men with worldly wisdom clothed in Godliness. As I often say in my radio show…DO THE WORK!
